Your
a proud firefighter and for 96 hours, 100 percent
pure adrenalin has sustained your stubborn tenacity
to defeat the destroyer before it consumes everything
in its path. But now, this same adrenalin has
pushed you beyond your endurance and ability to continue.
Mesmerized and barely standing, your smoke filled eyes
watch as the long awaited, out of state crews finally
pull into position to continue your initial attack.
Your
body is shutting down but your mind is still on fire
with images permanently burned into your memory.
You see a toddler restrained to her car seat screaming
with an unknown fear. You see a mother desperately
trying to comfort her but losing her own composure in
the process. You hear the panic in her choking
cry for help. You see yourself praying for them
as they drive into the blinding smoke and disappear,
unaware that the fire has begun to claim their home.
Your
mind continues to ignite with horrific images of loss.
The more you recall the more you become upset.
It's not the fire that upsets you; it's the amount of
needless devastation. Only a few took the threat
of wildfire serious enough to properly prepare in advance.
It was their homes … you were able to save.
Apathy
created this unnecessary and unacceptable level of risk
for too many families and for too many firefighters.
This website has been created for one purpose …
TO HELP YOU CREATE AN ACCEPTABLE LEVEL OF RISK; FOR
YOU AND FOR THEM.
